Best places to drink and dine with your dog

I’ve been based in Edinburgh a year now, so it’s about time I shared my favourite places I choose to dine with my beloved pooch (and husband of course). There’s no need to leave a member of the family at home, so here’s my top 10 to dine with your dog. Quick tip: Always ring ahead and book a table to avoid disappointment. Happy dining 🙂

1.Scran and Scallie
Comely Bank Rd, Stockbridge, Edinburgh EH4 1DT

Wonderful gastro fare. The fish and chips are divine.

2.Hector’s Bar

3.The Raeburn

4.Artisan Roast

Fantastic little coffee house, serving delicious (and very strong) coffee. Soak it up with a buttery pastry.

5.Spitaki
133–135 E Claremont St, Edinburgh EH7 4JA

Casual and relaxed authentic, family run Greek Taverna serving tasty little plates of goodness to share with your friends. Pick anything off the menu or pick it all, its all delicious and very reasonably priced.

6.The Barrelhouse Bar & Grill
London Road, Edinburgh, EH8 7AA
More: So new it doesn’t have a website
Newly refurbished to resemble a rock n roll rustic bar straight out of the USA (or Shoreditch). Go for the live comedy and music, a burger and a cold pint of your favourite HEINEKEN tipple – i’d recommend Desperados straight outta America

Out town

7.The Paper Mill
2-4 Westmill Rd, Lasswade EH18 1LX
More: thepapermill-lasswade.co.uk
If you’re looking for a day out of town, a walk and a bit of culture, head to internationally famous Roslyn and Chapel and country park. And ,on your way there or back is The Paper Mill. A favourite among the locals. Serving a good selection of wines, gins, and beer alongside good pub grub in a modern and welcoming environment. I’d recommend a burger and sweet potato wedges.

8.The Little Green Van
Saturdays on Portobello beach
More: Twitter @LittleGreenVan1
Get up early on a Saturday and get yourself down to Portobello for an uplifting, brisk and refreshing walk along this beautiful beach. This charming little green van run by husband and wife team and their dog sell the most satisfying coffee and delicious baked treats on a Saturday. But be quick, they run outta the best treats pretty quick.

Further afield

9.Crab and Lobster Shack
Harbour Lodge, North Berwick EH39
More: lobstershack.co.uk
If the sun is shining get on a bus, train or in your car and get yourself to North Berwick. Its Edinburgh’s most expensive out of town neighbourhood for a reason. It’s stunning. Head straight to the harbour after May and before October to queue up and get your mouth around some of the tastiest lobster, chips and smokey mayo Scotland has to offer. It really is finger licking good.

Day tripping
